Love & Hate

We are emotional people with complex emotions. Our emotions can fluctuate from moment to moment, situation to situation, and even from person to person. God has also made us relational creatures. When you combine our emotions with differing relationships and challenges, it can be alarming how we can fluctuate from love to hate. Though our emotions may be masked or internalized, they can simmer deep inside or just below the surface.

Love and hate are more than emotions. They can also be highly revealing. They are also diagnostic tools that help us discern the spiritual state and health of our hearts.

In 1 John 3:10-18, the letter of John lays out the significance of what our emotions reveal. Love and hate can diagnose our spiritual family, our spiritual father, and our eternal destiny. How you feel about other Christians should be taken very seriously.
