Resolving Sin
We have a problem. This problem affects families, schools, governments, workplaces, and every other sector of society. Anywhere you find people, you will have an issue. The problem is sin.
As much as we (humanity) like to deny it, the problem of sin is a big deal. We may try to explain it, deny it, or excuse it, but sin cannot be ignored. If you want to consider the problem of evil in the world, you will eventually find yourself considering the issue of sin.
How sinful is too sinful? To be guilty of sin is to be less than morally perfect. When one fails to do what is right or does something that is wrong, then they have sinned.
Is it possible to be either too lenient or too severe toward sin? If one is too lenient towards sin, one risks encouraging more sin. Merciless justice removes the possibility of forgiveness and restoration. In 1 John 2:1-2, we find that God dealt with sin in such a way that He achieved perfect justice, while making a way to extend unmerited mercy as well.
