The Abandoned Life
If we were to reduce 2000 years of Christian History and boil down all the teaching of the New Testament into its simplest form, what would we find? Before Christianity spread throughout the Roman Empire it was confined to the region of Judea. Jesus never traveled outside of that region during his whole life and ministry on earth. The first people to be identified with Jesus, he called his twelve apostles.
In Luke 5:1-11, we see the first three disciples of Jesus respond to His invitation to "follow me." In its simplest form, here we find what it means to be a Christian. A Christian is a follower of Jesus.
This Sunday, we will explore what it means to follow Jesus.
