Adrift (part 1)

The currents of change have always been flowing. We live in a time where those currents seem to be picking up speed with each passing day. There has never been a time in our country where the moral and spiritual foundations of society have shifted more rapidly.

Christians and the Churches they attend are increasingly divided as to what the Bible teaches in areas of morality, gender roles, and even heaven, hell, and salvation. Few churches have any resemblance to a historic and Biblical orthodoxy (right beliefs) or orthopraxy (right practice). We are living in an "Age of Drift."

Individuals and families are being tossed and turned in the waves of variant secular views, shallow Biblical knowledge, and moral chaos. Is there an anchor that can stabilize our unbelief, fickleness, confusion, and our weakness?

In the First Century, there was a man named Timothy. Timothy, a disciple of Paul, was given the difficult task of leading the church of Ephesus through a similarly turbulent time. The city of Ephesus was a very immoral city and the Ephesian Church had many false teachers confusing and corrupting the believers. In that context, Paul sent Timothy a letter with vital instruction to anchor the church in a turbulent time.
