The Post-Resurrection Interview of Jesus

May 4, 2025    Pastor David Anglin

We are all used to "Breaking News" cutting into our normal programs or notification hoping up on our phones. Could you imagine how incredible it would be to hear that Jesus has risen from the dead and then to be able to read or watch a first hand account as a journalist sits down with Jesus to get the story straight from the source? We actually have a recorded interview. In fact we have 5 of them.

The Bible records 5 separate accounts of Jesus's appearances and instructions to his disciples after his resurrection. Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, and even Paul had carefully researched and documented what Jesus did after his resurrection and more importantly what his finally words were for his disciples.

Here is Paul's summary of all who saw Jesus after his resurrection. "For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, 4hat he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures, and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve. Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have fallen asleep. Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles. Last of all, as to one untimely born, he appeared also to me."

- 1 Corinthians 15:3–8 (ESV)

This Sunday, we will trace Jesus steps over the 40 days between his resurrection and his ascension to heaven. We will end with Jesus 's final instruction to his disciples then and now.
