The Light of Christmas

Nov 30, 2025    Mike Miller

The image of baby Jesus asleep in the manger evokes a sense of wonder and tenderness. The season of Advent is a time of expectation and anticipation as we remember God’s promises fulfilled with the birth of Jesus.

When we reflect upon the birth of Jesus we usually go to the Gospels of Matthew and Luke to read the narratives of the events surrounding the coming of the Messiah. This Christmas season we will focus on the profound but often neglected account of the coming of Jesus found in John 1:1-18.

“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.” -John 1:14

Christmas celebrates the eternal God's sovereign entry into history, reminding us that the manger holds the Creator who brings light to a dark world, calling sinners to repent and believe.
